If you really want it wait for a steam sale. I put in a new hard drive, lost an old save file and didnt want to start another game in one of the older Cricket Captains (I didnt like have Phil Hughes RIP in my team) so getting this years game was a good call...it's same old Cricket Captain, fun to play if you like Cricket and macro level management sims, a couple of new leagues I'm unlikely to ever play and a little prettier than previous versions. While watching the start of the Ashes on one monitor I've been playing them on the other and for the record Australia 3-0 in my Ashes :). boring they need to add in where you can change clubs and national team. ig get sack ect. While it doesn't bring many new features from last year's version, it's probably the best Cricket Managment Sim to date, up to date rosters and stats and more game modes adds to the replabilty, if you're a cricket fan like me it's fun to play, hopefully they will add more major features in 2018. Give us DRS Childish Things please.. It's a good game. Always has been. The only new things in this version though are a few new leagues and updated squad lists. Same story every year. Considering that the mobile version of exactly the same game is less than a third of the price and is exactly the same, this is a big rip-off. If you're new to this franchise, get an old version for your PC or better still, just get the mobile version. It's a good game but this version is a rip-off.. In game it's a good ball-by-ball simulation. Outside the game it's pretty much the same as it's been for 20 years. The developer doesn't really expand the gameplay - they add different national competitions to the game which (I expect) expands their market reach and means they sell more copies of what is essentially the same game it's been for 20 years.I get that. But that's pretty much all there is. If you are anything like me then playing in one of these expanded markets adds nothing what-so-ever to my gameplay experience. And that's the problem. These new markets pretty much ARE the only reason to get the new version of the game. That's what they've added, that and updated rosters which really should be in an in game editor by now.So - If you are interested in Pakistan domestic league you can now play it. It plays exactly the same as every other league - but the players names are correct and the logos are close (though not correct) and the rules of the league are quite accurate (though pretty much trhe same as - say - the UK league in this case)Stats are still bafflingly under represented. They throw a bone every year or so with "now with another tiny teeny aspect of the full stats the game creates exposed to you - the player"The stat presentation is seriously underwhelming and I can't understand why that is. Someone with a week-long experience of any DBMS or even a free spreadsheet would be able to collate and present better and fuller stats than this game does. The biggest issue though is double barelled and about the game world.Firstly there is very little metagame.Gameplay plays like this...Pick the team - play the game Pick the team - play the game Pick the team - play the game ... alter the rather underwhelming training options - then Pick the team - play the game Pick the team - play the game Pick the team - play the game... Continue about 40xSeason over.CONTRACTS (the one small aspect of metagame the series has)Wait for next seasonStart againThe contracts are neither accurate nor work very well. There is still no way of knowing whether an overseas player is available for the season. You do know if they have IPL comittments, but that's it.I frequently have both players (the main overseas and the "reserve") picked by their national side if they are playing remotely well for me. Including, frustratingly, frequently players who have never played the form of international cricket they are being picked for before. After a few years I stop getting overseas players, good ones cost a lot and having both plucked for international duty and the game not allowing me to get another mid-season (something incredibly common IRL) can be a waste of 10% of my total budget better spent on training younger players or buying solid domestic talent.T20 run rates are not very reflective of the real thing. Players new to the crease do not hit sixes (they sometimes edge a six over third man however).Pinch hitters work too infrequently. It's easy to stifle the opposition - the game is fair in this respect - The AI teams rarely bat with power and flair and neither can you. Keeping them under 6.5 runs an over is pretty easy I can win T20 games batting first and posting scores under 130. More often than not even on perfect pitches with fast outfields it's way to easy to stop the AI scoring. No personality. - in 1998 the game had more training options and a placeholder for users to add photos (as official photos are not allowed - that's fine - but they took away the option of user photos the old 60x70 BMP files that worked)No metagame - reduced training options and photos removed and a clunky UI that looks designed for mobile gaming with big clunky buttons (meant for fingers not mouse pointers I'd guess)I have bought every single version of this game since it came out as it is the best. But it shouldn't be.IRL Cricket is financially and exposure wise a much bigger game than it was 20 years ago thanks to IPL T20 and worldwide TV exposure. Yet..I still see all the missed opportunities and the removal of some depth and personality options over the years, the game has added a few more stats (Why just a few? Why not just expose all the stats the game creates)3D graphics? so bad and clunky I play with them turned off and tweaked simulation which is a little better than it was 20 years ago - but not 20 years better. Come on no way is it 17 iterations of a full priced game better.Again the best ball by ball cricket sim there is. The best cricket sim there is.Given the long standing short-comings of the game - in 2017 - that's a pretty shocking state of affairs.. As a huge cricket fan, I always look for good cricket games. I've bought the last 3 Cricket Captains. Unfortunely, it's not good enough from the developer. The only main difference each year is player statistics and more leagues to play with. Besides that, there isn't much going for the game. However, this game does have potential, the developer needs to realise that they can take this game far. But every year it's the same and it's frustrating. This game is a coach management game, and there isn't much to customise or manage. There should be more, more in-depth for the player. Batting should be a lot more complicated, bat differently, rather than just changing how aggressive they are. As well with bowling. This game needs more depth, training should be a massive factor but doesn't seem to be.. Ignore the negative reviews, this is a very good game, maybe the graphics aren't that great but thats not what this game is about. The scoring is realistic, loads of different strategies while playing. You can prepare your home pitch to suite your means, train and coach and prepare your batmen and bowlers with various technique's etc. All the players are there as is the 100% accurate fixture list. If you like cricket and you're into stats and stuff, then you'll like this, buy with confidence.. Now this is an early review hours wise as you can see only 1 hour. But i know more about this game than my playing time would suggest due to following the game since realease and consuming many hours worth of Cricket captain on youtube. The Major problems people have with this game are1) 'It's the same as 2013,14 ect.' I played 2013 and ofcourse they are similar as it is the same series and concept but they have overhauled many things since 2013. Meaning if you are a fan of previous cricket captains you NEED to buy this unless you own 2016 (but i would still reccomend it)2) 'The engine looks bad' Compared to other say FM the giants of sports management. It holds up decently, yes FM looks better but consider FM's budget compared to CC. The game for what it is looks completley fine.3) My best batsman will just go out for less than 10' I have seen this on several forums. This is the least valid complaint around in real international cricket plently of Elite batsmen get bowled out early or for low totals. Now for my complaints.1) I really love the All Time greats mode, but i wish their was a mode were i could use an All time Team against a friend online or against a current team like Oman to try and bat up a rediculous number.2) Another wish would be able to play with a domestic side such as Somerset a forgeign domestic side like Bangalore.3) The lack of a customisable database hurts the game I would love one so i could put an in Prime Trescothic, Ramprakash, Trott and Root all in one T20 Blast.A final wish would be the ability to switch jobs, e.g. start at a county team and work my way up to an IPL side.Overall considering it's still an early build i give this game a 7\/10.. Really boring if you have the 2016 version or 2015 one don't waste your money they are the same. If you really want it wait for a steam sale
